Shaldon, Devon

Shaldon is a pretty little village situated at the mouth of the River Teign opposite Teignmouth. Each Wednesday throughout the summer, Shaldon holds a 1785 market day in the village square where the villagers dress up in Georgian costume. Shaldon has two beaches, the river beach and Shaldon Beach which is well sheltered by high cliff tops and is accessible via a smugglers tunnel.

The village of Shaldon has a number of good pubs and restaurants. It has an 18 hole approach golf course situated on the cliffs and a small zoo which is home to small animals and reptiles.

If you are feeling energetic take a cliff top coastal walk up the Ness.

Each year in August Shaldon holds a water carnival and regatta. Sailing and salmon fishing is available on the River Teign and Shaldon is connected to Teignmouth via road bridge or ferry.



How to get to Shaldon by Car, Coach and Train

It is not possible to travel direct to Shaldon by coach (except local operators) or train but bus and taxi connections are available from Teignmouth.
