There are a number of things to see and do in Ilfracombe right throughout the year making it a popular North Devon resort.

The golden sandy beaches are heaven for children where they can play for hours with their bucket and spade building sand castles leaving their parents time to soak up the summer sun.

The varied and variety of walks offer splendid scenery. The coastal path towards Lee Bay gives access to smaller and quiter bays. The coast path along the cliff tops is varied with a number of steep inclines and declines where wooded valleys meet the sea. The Cairn Nature Reserve on the southern edge of the town provides interesting walks through beautiful natural woodland. Within a short walk is Rapparee Cove where recent excavations uncovered sixty skeletons from a shipwreck that occurred two centuries ago.

Sports enthusiasts are well catered for in Ilfracombe with a heated indoor swimming pool, Pitch and Putt course and Tennis Courts. Sea fishing is very popular in Ilfracombe and this can be carried out along the coastline or from the small fishing boats that sail from the harbour. Surfing is also a popular sport along the coastlines of North Devon.

There are a number of Museums and historical monuments to visit in and around Ilfracombe. Ilfracombe Museum has exhibits of natural history of the town, photographs and paintings as well exhibits of old railways. You can also visit a 16th century Watermill and explore the local and natural history.

Ilfracombe Town has a variety of interesting little shops where you can pick up that ideal holiday gift. You will also find a variety of small restaurants offering local and international cuisine and a number of small cafes.
