Part Victorian and part Georgian, the seaside town of Dawlish has a special charm and character. The lawn, an attractive park with mature chestnut trees, colourful flower beds and tall palms has a stream running through the centre which cascades over a series of waterfalls all the way to the sea. Here you can find the famous black swan of Dawlish and many other species of waterfowl. The lawn is a popular place for family games during the day. At night, coloured lights transform it into an ideal location for a peaceful walk on warm summer evenings. There is a bowling green on the lawn and a bandstand hosting a programme of free entertainment and events throughout the summer season.

Dawlish has three beaches, Boat Cove, Coryton Cove and the main beach stretches all the way to Dawlish Warren and beyond - ideal for children's games and sunbathing. You can take boat trips and fishing trips across the bay from the town.

Dawlish also hosts a theatre, museum and the usual amusement arcades you would expect to find at a popular busy resort.

You will find an indoor swimming pool and mini golf at the local leisure centre.

Dawlish is an ideal base to visit other places in South Devon. Why not take the train to the popular local resorts of Dawlish Warren, Teignmouth, Torquay or Paignton. Or to the local shopping towns of Exeter, Newton Abbot or Plymouth.
